CHAPEL & SPIRITUAL EMPHASIS
Elementary Chapel
Our elementary students gather for Chapel once a month during the school year. Chapel begins with worship through music led by our elementary choir teachers, and then area children's ministers, local pastors, Starkville Academy administration, or Starkville Academy faculty and staff lead a short program focusing on Biblical principles. In order to provide age appropriate spiritual guidance, we divide our chapel services into grades, grouping Prek-2nd grades together and 3rd-6th grades together. At the end of each school year, our 6th grade classes close out the chapel year by leading Chapel for 3rd-6th graders.
Secondary Spiritual Emphasis
Our secondary students participate in Spiritual Emphasis each month of the school year. To kick off and close out Spiritual Emphasis each year, students attend a general assembly to gain spiritual direction and motivation from a guest speaker in September and May. After the opening assembly, students engage in small group Spiritual Emphasis classes by grade each month. Each grade is assigned a Spiritual Emphasis leader from a local church in the Starkville community. To provide continuity and connection, the leaders move up with the grade each year until the students graduate . Collectively the Spiritual Emphasis leaders choose a theme each year & create a curriculum of topics to discuss each month during the Spiritual Emphasis classes. Example topics range from priorities to self-image, spiritual disciplines, character, and relationships and friendships.
